Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem (คลองผดุงกรุงเกษม) is located next to the Government House in Bangkok’s Old City which is also known as Rattanakosin Island. There is a new market festival that features different themes each month. Last month was dedicated to fruit and vegetables and this month is about flowers, decorative plants and beautiful ornamental fish.

This market festival will take place until the end of this year featuring a different topic every month. Thus, this fair can be considered a new attraction in Bangkok that is interesting to both locals and tourists.

Since this month’s festival is titled ‘Decorative plants & flowers and beautiful fish’, the market offers everything the bontanist’s heart desires. Hence, if you love gardening, exotic flowers, rare plants and amazing ornamental fish, this is the place for you 🙂

Thus, you can find a stunning selection of Bonsai there, such as the rare ‘Tian Talay’. This kind of tree is considered the King of Bonsai. Hence, it does not come as a surprise that this plant is super expensive – one exemplar displayed at the market costs around 2,5 million THB.

Among the beautiful fish, you also find rare specimen like the Albino Pearl Ray which is sought after by fish collectors around the world. Since the Albino Pearl Ray is so unique, its price is around five million THB. What a stiff price!

There are other extraordinary fishes that I have not heard of before like the Flowerhorn Crossbreed Fish, the Pompadour Fish and the Platinum Alligator…

However, even if you do not want to buy any of the rare plants and fishes displayed at the market, it is nevertheless a delight to admire all the beautiful flowers and plants. Indeed, it is a treat for the garden lover and I am sure that there will also be something for popular prices. Maybe you would like to take a tiny cactus home 😉
